When is Shred Day? 

Saturday - April 27th, 2024 (This will be the only shred day for 2024).

Where do I go? 

Plattsburgh Main Branch - 274 Rugar Street 

What time does it start? 

9:00 am - 11:00 am (or until Truck is full)

How much does it cost? 

It's completely free, but we will be accepting donations for Camp Ta Kum Ta in exchange for this free service. 

The event is open to the community and costs you nothing!

Drive-Thru Service

We're taking measures to offer a safe and orderly experience at our community Shred Day. Please follow the directional signs that will be posted and our team will be on-hand to remove the shredding from your vehicle. It can get busy, so ask that you please be patient as we work through everyone. Also, drive-safely as our drive-thru is also open during this time. 

Items to Shred

What should you shred? See the below list for examples of items that you should shred. As a rule of thumb, if it has personal information on it, you should shred it rather than throw it away!

  • Invoices
  • Financial Statements
  • Canceled Checks
  • Checkbooks
  • Medical Records
  • Credit Reports
  • Tax Returns
  • Pay Stubs 
  • Credit Card Information 
  • Any documents with your personal information on it like name, phone number, address, social security number, etc. 

Limits and Restrictions

In order to give everyone the opportunity to shred their documents, we ask that you please limit your vehicle to 3 boxes/bags. 
  • Paper documents only. Please no electronics. 
    • Unacceptable items: Batteries of any type, binders, binder clips, large metal objects, electronic devices, tissues, picture frames, hard drives, glass, ink cartridges or toner, garbage, etc. 
  • First come, First serve.
